SVENSK VOLLEYBOLL

DA: Nära mot Svedala

Svedala’s two new replacements to their team made a difference, but struggled with out their main outside hitter, Manyi Ati. RIG A had an opportunity to take advantage of the situation but just only missed the win.

RIG vs Svedala 1-3 (22-25, 23-25, 25-14, 22-25)

The match started out well with an even exchange of points from both teams. What showed during the match more than anything else was the A teams refusal to give up. The players worked diligently on serve receive, which was a lot better this time, however, there were still too many runs in serve made by Svedala.

Vilma Andersson was the only setter this match since other A team setters were out sick but she carried on as confident and sure of herself as ever. Safe to say, this match was one of her best. Also in the spotlight was Hanna Hellvig who came into the match in the second set and immediately scored 6 attack points and 1 ace.

After being down 0-2 in sets, Erika Lindqvist started the 3rd set with 5 aces in a row which gave the team a very big lead. This lead continued through out the match for the win with 25-14. The energy and momentum was on our side. However, the mind of a young athlete so far on top can sometimes become unfocused and relaxed. A reminder that Svedala was not going to just let them win was put in place and the battle began. Towards the end of the set, the tension was high in the team and unfortunately a few missed opportunities and own errors was the A teams demise.

The elite team is getting better and better through out the season and they can only go up from here. Having the confidence and aggressive attitude to get the job done is what is needed now, more then ever.

Back to work this week and game on Tuesday to redeem ourselves and hopefully grab a point or two. Feeling optimistic.
